## What example-plugin does, in the publisher's words

The reference Agent Plugin for this repository, copy it with just new-plugin to start anything new. Repo-wide conventions live in README.md and AGENTS.md.

plugin.json: the closed manifest schema: required $schema and name plus allowed metadata. Nothing else may appear at the top level.

skills/: two skill patterns. example-skill is stdlib-only; table-stats pulls in polars and pydantic through inline PEP 723 metadata, so it needs no install step and the directory stays copyable.

From the project README, punctuation lightly normalized. Full text: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/markbsigler/plugins/HEAD/example-plugin/README.md

## Skills

- example-skill: Counts words, characters, and lines in text the user provides, using a bundled Python script. Use this as a starting template when adding a new skill to this repository, or when a user asks for a quick word/character/line count of some text.
- table-stats: Summarizes a CSV/TSV file's row count and per-column name, data type, and null count using polars. Use this when the user asks for a quick profile, summary, or overview of a delimited data file (CSV, TSV, etc.), such as "what's in this CSV" or "summarize this data file".

Descriptions come from the frontmatter of each SKILL.md, punctuation lightly normalized.

## MCP servers

- example-server: transport: streamable-http; url: https://mcp.example.com/example-plugin/mcp

Read from the plugin's own mcp.json. Environment variable names only, never values.
