## What format-on-edit does, in the publisher's words

Runs the project's own formatter on every file the agent writes or edits, right after the change, and tells the agent which lines moved. A TypeScript project that uses Prettier gets its files back in Prettier's layout; a Go file gets gofmt; a Python project configured for Ruff gets ruff format. The change a person reviews is already formatted, and the agent's next edit re-reads the lines the formatter moved instead of quoting text that is no longer there.

The plugin does nothing until it is listed:

- On an agent: Add to an agent on the plugin's page, or in the agent's YAML plugins: [{kind: plugin, slug: format-on-edit}]. Every conversation with that agent formats.
- On one conversation: Start a chat on the plugin's page, or stigmer run --plugin format-on-edit.
