## What trace-mcp does, in the publisher's words

WORKS WITH · Claude Code · Cursor · Codex · Windsurf · Zed · any MCP client

trace-mcp indexes what your agent keeps re-reading, and serves the answer instead. 72.7% fewer input tokens to review a pull request — median over 60 merged pull requests in open-source repos we don't own.

We change configuration you could change yourself. We do not patch your client's binary, intercept its traffic, or rewrite its files.

- Lower cost: fewer tokens per successful answer, on average and at peak
- Lower latency: fewer sequential tool calls, fewer round-trips to the model
- Higher accuracy: less noise in context means fewer hallucinations and stronger first-response correctness
- Production stability: context growth tracks task complexity rather than repository size
- Framework-aware edges: trace-mcp understands that Inertia:render('Users/Show') connects PHP to Vue, that @Injectable() creates a DI dependency, that $user->posts() means a posts table from migrations. 87 framework integrations.

## Skills

- trace-mcp-codemod: Use trace-mcp apply_codemod for any bulk mechanical change instead of repeated Edit calls. Activate whenever the same edit pattern would be applied 2+ times, across one file or many.
- trace-mcp-pre-commit: Run trace-mcp security, quality-gate, and antipattern checks before committing or opening a PR. Activate when the agent is about to create a commit or pull request in a project indexed by trace-mcp.
- trace-mcp-refactoring: Safe refactoring workflow using trace-mcp: assess risk, find candidates, check impact, and rename symbols across all files without missing import sites or cross-file references.
- trace-mcp: Use trace-mcp tools for code navigation, impact analysis, and framework-aware queries instead of Read/Grep/Glob/Bash. Activate whenever the agent needs to explore, understand, or modify a codebase that has trace-mcp indexed.

Descriptions come from the frontmatter of each SKILL.md, punctuation lightly normalized.
