v0.2.0

by NousResearch · author: Nous Research

Reverse engineer programs with REA: inspect native binaries,.NET assemblies, Electron/JavaScript apps, Android packages, firmware and browser activity through REA's MCP server (pinned rea-agents@6.7.0 over npx stdio), with REA's reverse-engineer-anything workflow skill and a crash-triage skill (core dump + binary to root cause) bundled.

What rea does, in the publisher's words

> Part of Hermes Official Plugins, Nous Research's official plugins for Hermes Agent.

Reverse engineer programs from Hermes with REA (morluto/rea, MIT): inspect native executables and libraries,.NET assemblies, Electron and JavaScript applications, Android packages, firmware images, packet and browser captures, and the running behaviour of browser, Electron and terminal programs. REA returns structured Evidence (decompiled code, call graphs, application graphs, captures) and Hermes explains it or builds from it.

This is a portable Agent Plugins v1 package. One install ships:

  • mcp.json: the REA MCP server (rea), launched as npx -y rea-agents@6.4.0 mcp over stdio for every new session while the plugin is enabled. No mcp_servers edit in config.yaml.
  • skills/reverse-engineer-anything/: REA's own workflow skill (target routing, summary-first evidence paging, investigation planning), adapted for Hermes: it connects through this plugin instead of rea setup, finds tools through Hermes' tool search, and asks before steps that run or change something.

crash-triage
Find out why a native Linux program crashed, from its core dump and the binary, with REA, and turn that into a root cause and a bug report. Use when the user has a core file (./core, coredumpctl, a crash artifact from CI or production) or a segfault, abort, SIGFPE, SIGBUS or SIGILL in a C, C++, Rus…
reverse-engineer-anything
Reverse engineer native, managed, Electron/JavaScript, packaged, firmware, and browser targets with REA. Use shipped-artifact or requested runtime evidence to explain features, compare versions, decompile code, or guide a reconstruction. Skip REA for ordinary source-repository architecture analysis.

Descriptions come from the frontmatter of each SKILL.md, punctuation lightly normalized.
